It looks like my days of servitude are coming to an end. I took ONE DAY (well deserved, I might add) off and the [excrement] hit the proverbial fan. By the time the dust settled, I made sure it was understood what exactly my situation was, and what I could and could not do to fix it. There have been repercussions. Some people think I’m a snitch, others a [female canine], and still others have congratulated me for standing up for myself.

I won’t lie, it did hurt momentarily to be labeled a troublemaker/snitch. Everybody likes to be liked. But moments like these remind me that at the end of the day, most of the people we call coworkers are just strangers. They are not friends. They are not family. They are not worth emotion or stress.

Long story short: an opportunity for my plight to be seen and resolved presented itself and I took it. And now some of these [female canines] are pressed like my hair in the winter. But you know what? Demand has exceeded supply and it’s looking like I’m fresh out of [feelings on the matter].
